Het verhaal achter de app

I'm Maureen, a senior and collector at heart. It started at record fairs — I love browsing through crates of second-hand vinyl. But I kept coming home with albums I already had on my shelf.

You spot a familiar cover, it's only €2, you buy it... and at home it turns out you already have that exact pressing. Sound familiar?

I started keeping notes on my phone. It worked, but it was slow and messy. Then the same thing started happening with books — I'd see a title at a market, remember enjoying it at some point... and later discover I'd already borrowed and read it from the library.

I looked for a simple app that could handle it all. Everything I found was too complicated, needed an account, or came with a subscription I didn't want. So I learned to code and built SeniorEase Library myself.

Ik ben Maureen, een senior met een hart voor verzamelen. Het begon op platenbeurzen — ik hou van snuffelen door kratten met tweedehandse vinyl. Maar ik kwam steeds thuis met platen die ik al had.

Je ziet een bekende hoes, hij kost maar €2, je koopt hem... en thuis staat hij al op de plank. Herkenbaar?

Ik begon aantekeningen te maken op mijn telefoon. Dat werkte, maar was omslachtig. Daarna begon hetzelfde te gebeuren met boeken — een titel op de markt, ik wist dat ik hem ooit had gelezen... maar had ik hem nou gekocht, of geleend uit de bibliotheek?

Ik zocht een eenvoudige app die alles kon bijhouden. Alles wat ik vond was te ingewikkeld, had een account nodig, of had een abonnement dat ik niet wilde. Dus heb ik mezelf leren programmeren en SeniorEase Library zelf gebouwd.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Your full catalog works without internet after items are added. Barcode lookup needs a brief connection when you scan something new.

How do I avoid buying duplicates?
